Psalm 144:4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.

How could you?

Tuesday in Manchester, it was so gorgeous driving home I thought: I should write a post on how astonishing it is that no earthquake swallowed up this city today.

Instead God sent warmth and crystal skies and cool breezes and golden leaves and speech-swallowing sunsets.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing!

We deserved the Hilton Tower to fall, and the Barton Bridge to collapse, and poisonous gas to kill thousands.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is why everyone is crying out, Where was God on Tuesday! Where were you God! How could you do this? Why did you let this happen?

Everybody is saying that, aren’t they?

No, I didn’t hear it either.

Isaiah 55:10-11
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

God showers his grace and blessings on a world that in many places choses to ignore, disobey or laugh in his face, but in the end, He will make all things right. Until then, instead of the punishment we deserve, God gives us over-the-top foretastes of heaven on earth, His Kingdom here and now.
